Moving House - Ph Difference

my fish are at the moment ALL used to a Ph of around 7.4-7.6 the ph at my new house is much much higher...it tested at 8.4 i believe yesterday (or whatever is the second to highest reading on the api higher ph range card - a purply colour)

im meant to be moving the first lot of fish tomorrow now the tank is cycled - the oscars, a featherfin and a pictus catfish plus my breeding pair of red clawed crayfish.

will this ph difference kill them? can i acclimatise them over the day to this or do i have to bring down the ph somehow???

You can acclimatise fairly easily, although slowly, by slowly adding a small cup of tap water (or tank water as it will be then) to the bag/bucket (whatever it is your using to transport the fish) every 15 minutes, so take one cup of bag/bucket water out, one cup of new tank water in, do this over a period of 2/3 hours ideally longer but I would imagine time will be short, that way the ph will rise slowly so they can adjust prior to putting them into the tanks.

thank minx was hoping it would be fairly simple to do..i have the whole day to acclimitise them so time is no problem....they will be in a very large water butt to be transported...can i assume its safe to take a little more than a cupfull out at a time (a bowl full maybe)?

Well use a jug then, but the less amount at a time, the better, something like a 2lt jug would work
