Hi, does anyone have any advice on moving fish? My friend has just bought an established tank on ebay, but she didn't notice when she was bidding that its actually a 2 hour drive away. My partner is going up in the van to collect them (the tank is 2 metres), but we're worried about transporting the fish.. how to stop them getting upset, keeping the water warm, etc. Any advice gratefully received!

U need to cycle the tank before adding any new fish. The water must settle down, then move the fish? What fish u got.

Large Polystyrene import boxes from your LFS will help to hold the fish for the journey home
Should be fine for a couple of hours. If concerned get the seller to warm some water in a kettle and fill a couple of empty 2ltr lemonade bottles with very warm water (not boiling) and place in the boxes. With the lid sealed it should hold the temp until you get home,

1. Large Bin + Tank Water + Oxygen Tablets.
2. Wrap in all in a Duvet (Shock absorber and insulation) ,
3. Fasten the duvet down with Duck tape.
4. Tape on the lid.
5. Pop it in your car.

Sorted.

Thanx everyone. The tank is already cycled, she just needs to move it.
Do the polysterene boxes have a brand name, do you know?

No..LOL.
Your LFS should have some lying around. They bring their fish from the distributor in them and most of the time discard them.
They measure around 24" square roughly.
