Hello again;

I have 3 harlequin rasboras and 2 cory cats in a 2.5 gal aquarium (a well intentioned gift for my son from a relative). I'm going to be moving them to a 10 gal which was set up yesterday (won't move them for another day or so). I'm looking for recommendations on what would be the best way to go about this. Should I first move some of the gravel, or water, or (plastic) plants to the new tank before fish? Should I move just the rasboras, just the corys, or can they both go together? This 2.5 gal is obviously insufficient, and I don't want to rush things, but I'm concerned for their welfare in that tiny thing (the light on it broke yesterday, as well, so they have nothing but whatever light from the room gets in). Thanks for your help!

Best,
Chris

.....I just read in another thread about moving the filter to a new tank, as well. Would it be a good idea, even though the filter is small (submersible whisper with bio bag) to run it on the new set up? If so, should I turn off the new filter or let that run along with the old one? Thanks a lot!!!!

Corys like to be in gropes os 5+ so i sugest you get more and harlequin rasboras are sholing fish so no less than 6 of them, for all that you will ne aroound a 60-70l tank whick would allow you to get afew more harlequin rasboras or anouth small fish. i would recomend a fulval external filter as they are affordiable and reliable.
you should reed up on fishless cycling, the gravel and decor holds very little nurtifying bacteria (vertualy 0) so the plants would be okay to stay in the current tank.

if your current filter is cycled fully then maby it would be able to filter a bigger tank for a short while aslong as you get another filter in there, i sugest the fishless cycle and get a new light for the tank as the cycling will tank anything from 4weeks.

shang hi :good:

6 Harlequins and 6 Corys will be ok in 10g if he does it properly and does good water changes.
