We have two fish tanks, a small one (approx 30l) and alarge one (not sure of the capacity - 300l+)

We are going to move house in the next few weeks and we were wondering what was the best way to move the fish. I have moved the little one before by taking out most of the water, saving some of it in a hard sided cooler which we moved the fish in. And then restoring the water to the tank and topping up. I think this would be harder with the large tank.

We are moving to a house abouth 20 miles away.

When I picked up my 300l, it was a complete setup, so I bought a large container to put the fish in, emptied the rest of the water, put the gravel in buckets as it would have been to heavy to move. Kept the filter with tank water in it to keep the beneficial bacteria. That was about it really. All went well, I think the fish were out of the tank for maybe 2 hours max.
