I just purchased a 4 foot tank as an upgrade from my 2 foot and I need to know how to change the fish over, if possible I would like to do it as soon as possible as I dont have much space in my room and its a real pain,

the equipment on the 2 foot is 200 lph filter, 60lph filter, heater and air pump, so can i move the heater filter and gravel as well as the water to the new tank along with the fish, will this mean that the tank wont have to cycle?

the fish are 3 platties, 8 neons, 4 rosy barbs, bronze catfish, and a mystery snail, I know a little crowded but I knew I was getting a new tank,

I really dont want an ammonia spike that will kill my fish, so should I let the tank cycle for a few weeks, or preferably do it now,

thanks for the help

Daniel

You can put your filter in your new tank straight away with all you fish etc and run them along side your new Filter for a few weeks, that way your you bacteria will be OK. after a few weeks you can remove your old filter.
just dont increase you biological load for a couple of weeks.

Cheers, Karl
