How big are the parents , DD?

12 gal seems a little tight , how many other tanks you got there ?

theyre only 1.5-2 inches, around that mark, not big at all.

and ive bred them sucsesflly in the 12 gal.except last time i found wrigglers not the eggs.and im sure a killed some when i transfered them. so this time i wanna make it right.

all the other tanks i hae right now are ocupied.
40gal-has my new worlds and myjewels
25gal(1)-dwarf cichlids and community
25gal(2)- my electric yellows
25gal(3)my new grow out tank for the previous batch of fry.
and i got two 5 gals but i dont think thats much help so i think my 12 gal is the only option

thanx for the reply

DD , you know your male can eventually reach 6 " or more , with the mate not far behind , 12 g is fine for the size they are now , though I guess I wouldn't try and let the parents raise them .

Good luck .

I got 2 thomosis today , about 1 1/2" , not sure at all about sexes .

Try using something flat and easy to remove , maybe a piece of shale , give them a flower pot for privacy , they may spawn on it . Instead of the rock .
The eggs are hard to see if you use some in great cotrast to the eggs you may notice them sooner , a glay flower pot may not work in that case :/ , as you've noticed they are sustrate spawners and would spawn on the aquariums sides if they no place else to .

Good luck

thanx for the reply and the concer, and dont worry, ive made deals with my lfs, and shall be u[grading in a few months

i think you misread my question though,

my jewels have just spawned again,i spoted the eggs on the side of a round-ish rock. and i want to know how i can move it to the 12 gal with out damaging anything,or can i just take the rock out and transfer it by hands?

and last time the the jewels raised their fry quiite niceley

You're right , I did mis read , A few seconds out of water shouldn't be a problem , if you have a plastic container that will fit in the tank , that is big enough to put the rock in , you could take it out in water .................The problem is , you might need like 3 pairs of hands :/

Good luck DD .

well i moved it,

i couldnt find a container the right size so i just lifted it up with my hands and out it in.and then i straight away caught the jewels and put them in,they were alittle confused but they're back to their normal state guarding and protecting.

thanx for the replys
