We'll im moving away to go to a different school....and damn right im takin the tanks with me ....Now it's not far...about a 40 min drive.....I have 2 5 gallon buckets that i use for water changes...I was going to put my barbs - RTB in one bucket and my pictus and keyholes in another with my flter and some rocks and plants.Drain the tank and move it with the gravel and enough water to cover it.Then refill it and add them back in. Will this work? Im really worried about them and i dont want to loose any of them I wont have any problem with my Convict tank and my 70 gal is still in a fishless cycle. And hints or tips would be greatly welcome
I always go to the LFS and get bags and do the fish up just like when you get them from the lfs. Its safer than the buckets.....trust me make sure the tank is supported on the bottom and i think the rest of your plan will work out fine. Be prepared for a mess when you start adding the water at the other end. Nothing likea bouncy ride in a car to get the crap out of the gravel.
DIDnt think about the crap coming up....do you think that the gravel and some water will be to much weight ?....i really dont want to crack it...then um up $%&^ creek ....And i'll go with bags
For a short trip like that, if you make sure its flat and well supported and drive carefully over the bumps you wont have any problems. I have done what you are about to do many times with few incidents but never a cracked tank.
