Anyone else keeping a betta by himself in a bigger tank? Just curious. He seems pretty happy with all the room.

I've had my betta, Mr. Silver in a ten gallon for about 3 months now and he's more active than he every was in his 2.5 gallon. It looks kind of weird having just one fish occupying all that space though but I don't think i'll be adding any other fish in there.

My betta is in a planted 5-6g hex and I would never keep a betta in a smaller tank after seeing him in there! He 'patrols' the tank, blows enormous bubble nests and has two or three favourite 'hang-out' places which he seems to switch between depending on the time of day. Since the tank is planted and he has a couple of rock caves etc it's not like he has a huge amount of open water around him though.

Nah, that's fine! :) There's never too big a setup. :)
I'm sure he's loving all the room!

Thanks for the replies. I had him in a 1gallon for a few days when I first got him. It's funny how they suggest a warmer temp for Bettas yet there's no way to heat a 1gallon tank!! Moved him into a 5gallon corner eclipse and he like woke up!! he was a different fish! Had him in there for a little more than a year before he went to the 10 . Now I need to find a use for my 5 gallon! :good:

Ooh now there's a fab excuse for a nice new Betta!!!
