I moved my 4 leopard danios from their 20gal tank to a 47gal tank. They are the second inhabitants to be added to this new setup after my CAE who's had the whole place to himself for the last few weeks.

Anyway, after letting them acclimatise, I set them free and they darted for cover. After a few mins they were swimming around the plants sticking to the bottom corner of the tank (most heavily planted area).

I sat and watched them for a bit and they gradually started exploring and sticking together untill they found my CAE's "grotto" After my CAE had a brief tizzy they chased him off and he went back to lurking, occasionally comming out and rattling his sabre.

Anyway, this was about 3 or 4 hours ago now. I'm sitting at my computer watching them now and then and they all seem to be doing fine. They've explored the rest of the tank and decided that the bottom corner is "theirs" :D It is the one area of the tank that gets some direct sunlight and they have enjoyed dancing through the sun beam :) (there is some shelter too)

I've noticed though, they do seem to be chasing each other around, and definately the males chasing the females (as far as I can tell, I have 2 of each). They split into 2 pairs as well, and swim around the mossy/planted areas, and then the 2 males will chase one female etc.

Hopefully this is a good sign!

Good luck! Seems breeding is in the air again!

Yeah! The females look a bit tubby, so I guess they may be ready to off load some eggs! Unfortunately I think danios will eat eggs/fry if given the chance, but who knows! When I get more organised I'll try to sort out a spawning mop of some sort :)
