Moved Fish Into New Tank

Hi,

I have successfuly moved all of my fish into a new tank and want to use my old one as an emergency/quarantine tank. Will all of my bacteria in the filter die off as soon as I take all of the water out?

If you want to save the bacteria, take a bucket of fish water and put in all the filter media. It usally takes about an hour or an hour and a half to die out of water, but shouldn't when it's in fish water.
