Mouth Problem

One of my female platys has what looks like white lipstick on her bottom lip and keeps trying to get something out of her mouth. When she tries to spit whatever it is out something does come out but appears to be attached to the inside of her top lip. It's like she's turning her mouth inside out but when it goes back to normal the thing goes back in. It's obviously causing her distress.
Does this sound like mouth rot or cotton mouth? And if it is would Melafix be the best treatment?

Personally, i would get the fish out, using a cocktail stick i would carefully open its mouth to check it hasnt eaten something it shouldnt have...

I would tend to treat the tank, melafix is good if your fish doesnt have an obvious infection and i know people on this forum dont like medicating but tbh, its your choice, i think medicating is the safest way if you dont want it to spread... but you need to know what might be the problem first.

Especially as you have other unknown problems going on with another platy, i would err on the side of caution and treat (assumnig its not something stuck in the fishes mouth)

If i was treating, i would take carbon out and use a treatment with malachite/formalin and/or acriflavin in it. Myxazin uses all three, protozin will do the same job, anti fungal and bacterial treatment from Interpet or ESHA fungus and finrot.

Personally, i keep a big bottle Myxazin handy as its a really general treatment but works well for numerous problems.

Thanks Mbou. Right, here's a weird thing. When I put the lights on today (usually midday) there is no sign of it at all now! I think she may have eaten something she shouldn't have, as you say, but she definitely had white lipstick on last night. Oh well, have now purchased some melafix and some pimafix so I'm ready should it reappear, lol!
The other platy I'm having a problem with is in another tank so no problem there as far as the girl goes
