I just recently picked up some more tiger barbs and stuck them under quarantine today, and with my lovely luck, they've all seem to got mouth fungus.
It's not the least bit severe, it took me a while to catch it, and it's hardly noticable. I know it's not really a fungus and it's bacteria blah blah blah I usually use salt in case of ich and the like but it doesn't seem that'll work here.
There are 101 ways to treat fungal infections without going out and buying medication it seems, but I've never dealt with a bacterial infection before. And frankly, I don't know if this will just "go away" because they got put in good water condition instead of crummy petstore water.
If it does, that's great, I don't have to do anything, but I don't think it works like that.
Anyways. I'm quite tight on cash for the rest of the week, and I've read this stuff acts fast to the kill. To be blunt, I don't really have the 10 dollars to go out and buy a tube of anti bacterial fish stuff which I most likely won't be touching again for quite a while after this heals up. I also don't particularly fancy killing my beneficial bacteria with gross medications, which is why I treat with other things.
So, first off, can anyone tell me if it does just clear up because the water conditions are at their best? (I doubt this is the case, but one can dream)
Second off, are there any treatments I can use that aren't medications?
Third off, if I am doomed to go buy a bottle of anti bacterial stuff, what do you recommend?
