Mouth fungus on my rainbows

I discovered a fungus on my rainbows mouths, so i did about a 30% water change before i went to bed, then i woke up to find the fugus on the fish actually decreased.

Did the water change help the immune system fight back the fungus? Either way, im still getting some medication for it. I wouldnt dare want to lose my rainbows.
