I have just bought a "mouse ear coral" but cant fid anything about it anywhere, does anybody know anything about this coral? I have seen the replys to a previous question about this coral but dont answer what it is, its definately not an elephant ear coral as suggested, and definately not a mushroom of any kind.
It is more like a leather coral but smaller.

I thought I answered it...

Mouse's Ear is the common name for Sinularia dura. It's a more squat species of Sinularia but retains the fast growth and ease of propogation, though it's more difficult to reattach than, say, Sarcophyton in my experience. Very hardy.

That would be a cabbage leather, correct?

Marinedepotlive:

Color: The Cabbage Leather (Flower Leather) has a tan, purple/tan, grey, brown color.
Type of hard coral: Leather
Diet: Carnivore.
Feeding: It likes to eat filter feeding invert food, Mysis Shrimp, micro-plankton a few times per week, when open..
Behavior: The Sinularia dura is generally semi-aggressive toward other tankmates.
Care: Many consider the Sinularia dura a low-maintenance specimen.
Lighting: Has low lighting needs.Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism.
Water flow: The Cabbage Leather Coral, Carpet Coral, Flat Leather Coral, Flower Leather Coral requires intermediate water flow.
General notes: Will extend, so provide space. Hardy. Will reproduce.
Water parameters: Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Origin: The Cabbage Leather (Flower Leather) is commonly collected from Indonesia.

Thanks a lot guys, this is most useful, now I know what ive been looking for it makes googling a lot easier  after looking for the sugested names i think its definately Sinularia dura.
Why is it when you buy these corals, you rarely see the latin name, it makes searching for information so much harder than it should be.
Thanks again guys.
