Hi!

I just got a mountain shrimp as was wondering if anyone had any tips for keeping them besides the general water conditions and so on?

I know they are filter feeders because of their adapted claws but not much else?
He's found himself a nice home under some bogwood and comes out to clean the roof every now and then as well as cleaning the substait.
He also gets along well with the Amano Shrimp I have in my tank and the fish wont go near him because he's bigger than them! (for no anyway)

NU revelations....

My mountain shrimp has changed colour!

He was a light brown when I got him and now hes red!!!!! I thought it might be the light in the aquarium or sumthin but I netted him to see and he's defo changed colour!

Thought he might have been cookin in the tank but its a modest 24.5c on both sides!

Don't put them in a cichlid tank. I heard salt helps the molting process, so I made mine brackish (not just because I got black finned sharks, but most because I got them). I know that red claw crabs are VERY sensitive to ammnia/nitrite spikes. So I assume the other invertabrates are. I have no idea what to feed them if they aren't getting enough food, and I hope someone will say here. I heard that you should add an old leaf, or some fish flakes. I don't know about the leaf, but I tried the flake food and I have no idea if it worked. hth

Yeah its dodgy with him cos he's a filter feeder. I suppose its just getting the environment right for him 2 catch the excess food left over by those filthy fish!

He was a must buy when I saw him though! My Girlfriend refused to have a blue lobster in case it killed one of her precious fish!! PAH!
