Mould In Drop Checker

Anyone ever had this before? Looks like white mould on the inside of the drop checker where the air gap is.

The drop checker is new, rinsed in water before putting in tank. Using 4dKH Bromo Blue in the drop checker. Colour is a nice green so Co2 is OK in the tank.

The tank has been up and running for just over a week now and is being cycled with lots of plants. Could it be something to do with water and filter not cycled properly yet.

I've been keeping fish for many years and never had this before until I set this new tank up.

I've taken drop checker out of tank and cleaned, put back in and 2 days later the mouldy stuff is back again.

Any thoughts....

Do you get a scummy substance on the surface of the tank? Or near the edges at the surface?

I was getting a film on the surface but I've now angled the output of the filter to agitate the surface more, which in my experience has always helped.

That is your problem I think, bear in mind that there is no surface disturbance where the water/air barrier is in the drop checker, it's most probably some form of oil/scum from food or plants.

I get it sometimes. i just remove it but if the drops in the tank the fish go mad for it. Wierd things
