Hi all
I have a tank full of sick fish (no visable signs of disease, flashing on rocks, midwater shaking like they are out of water and one got a milky white spot not cotton like but other than all that they are fine eating swiming no gasping at top or bottom). But no one knows what they have for sure, many have theories. The best one from my mom in law (gotta love them) is as follows

The fish that started off the sickness was my Roseline shark from India ( wild caught). She thinks that the tsunimi (SP) unearthed some strange parisite that we don't know about. And this fish is a carrier of it. She feels I should kill all the fish, bleach the tank.I think she is worried I'll pass something to her grandkids.
Maybe ???????????????????????????????

I do throughly wash my hands after I play with the tank on any level as I read a article on TB infected fish. So I think the kids are safe, but my health could be in jep...ugh gasp.... ....... :alien: .......ordy. Just kidding

But for real any thoughts on my sick fish or the crazy mom in law?

Hi smb7676 :)

Is your tank cycled? What are the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate readings? pH? :dunno:

It would also help if you would tell us the water temperature, how much water do you change, and how often, and when was the last time you did it. :D

Tank is cycled no prob with Ammonia or Nit Ph stable at 7 running a temp of 74 no big changes on that. I clean it once a week. Tues I take out 20% and add water of the same temp after adding dechlor. I hope this helps the LFS told me if there was no visable signs that maybe they just liked to shimmy on the rock! I swear that was what he said !!

You wash your hands after touching your fishtank? I've actually tasted the water from mine. Surprisingly clean-tasting; it tasted better than most water intended for human consumption.

Oh, and fish-borne TB does not give people TB, the symptoms are more like a mild cold.

You're not the only one. I stick my arms in my tank all the time and never wash them. I'll even eat food after sticking my hands in my tank. :dunno: But I'm probably the one who will catch all the fish's diseases. ;) I tasted my betta's water because I added aquarium salt to it and I was curious if it tasted like saltwater. :*)

I can't say that I've ever willingly ingested my aquarium water, but I have torn a gash into my hand (required stitches) while playing in my tank.

When you have 2 kids under 3 a mild cold can send the house in to an utter mess. But I'm not sure I would taste my water. I wouldn't even worry if I wasn't wrist deep with the kids and fish.

But does anyone have any ideas on my fish ? AS far as what they may have ?
