Hi guys,

We've had our tank for jsut over a year now, and on one of our ornaments we've got quite a big chunk of mossy/algae/fluffy green stuff. just wondering if this is harmful for the tank/fish?

Thanks.

If it is just algae (which it sounds like it is) then no, this will pose no problem for your fish.

What kind of fish are they?, most fish will eat it.

...sorry I didnt even look at you signature to see what fish you have, sorry.

But algae is perfectly healthy for your fish, no need to worry.

Thing is, it's not really algae, its some sort of bushy green stringy stuff...

Ive seen a similar thing on orniments in my LFS, it looked like greeny brown hair but I just thought it was a kind of algae.....Ive never had it in any of my tanks mind.

Are you water stats okay? do they fish look like they eat it?

Its not Java moss is it?.....that wouldnt just grow in your tank, you would need to have bought and added it yourself though.

The fish dont eat it. We have our water checked each time we go to our lfs and only ha minor problems. I'll get it checked again soon, and probably get our own kit.
