Hi guys,

I've just bought 2 different species of moss from my LFS to attach to the pieces of driftwood I have in my tank, they are Vesicularia Dubyana (christmas tree moss) and Taxiphyllum Barbieri. I'm just wondering how much of this I should attach to my wood? I don't know whether to pack as much as I can on initially or to put enough on to cover it to allow for growth. I've heard the moss underneath might die where it is attached to the wood due to lack of light etc if you put too much on.

Also, I'm planning on using superglue; a few people have said it's the best way...is it safe?

Cheers for reading, if anyone could help it would be nice...

It's best to just use a little to let it grow out because as you stated the moss on the bottom can turn brown and die off if it's just loaded on. I have no experience with the superglue but I've read that once it dries it is aquarium safe but I'd wait for a more experienced member with personal experience of using it.

I use superglue on my mosses and other rhizome plants, you don't need much though, just a tiny spot, it will show up white in the water, it will soon loose the whiteness though.. You don't need to attach alot of moss, a few strands will soon grow, it just depends what effect you're going for.

If you want a real bushy effect from the Christmas Moss then attach individual strands via the thickest end to the wood with a dot of glue, it will take a while but use a spray bottle with some water to keep it wet and the look afterwards will be awesome.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.

Super glue worked really well, looks great already :)
