I have a 20G with an Aquaclear 150 (rated for 20G). Its working good, but the water coming out isnt moving enough water inside my tanks (IMHO), specially with the plants near the output

When I vacuum my gravel, I get LOADS of gunk coming up and cant get it alll (i'd change all the water), Seems like i'm not getting enough mechanical filtration, not enough waste gets into the filter intake I think

Should I add a Powerhead/internal filter (maybe an Aquaball from Eheim or a good old sponge filter) to augment filtration and get some more water flow to get more gunk in circulation so that it gets picked up?

My water has gotten less clear these days, parameters are stable, but it's getting less attractive.

I extend the intake on my AC'c to get it closer to the bottom. You can buy extensions, or make your own using water safe tubing from the hardware store. Some of my tanks have a powerhead on the bottom, hooked up to a home made filter on the intake. If you just drop a powerhead on the bottom, the intake may suck up some fish.

Just because it does not look like your getting circulation you probably are. And I overfilter my tanks and I still have my share of "gook" in my gravel during vacuums! :D
