Ok so i was thinking about this today, and i may have already asked it but i dont remember.... I know how im gonna make sure i have ready media for the tank (keeping a filter in my bigger tank) but i was wondering, do i need to have seperate everything for that tank i.e. siphoning tube, water change bucket, nets, etc. And when they are ready to go back in the main tank do i have to throw the filter out? Now im asking this on behalf of new fish as well as sick fish. Sick fish im assuming you would destroy everything, but if it is just a new fish and it is health do you still throw away everything? I hope this makes sence???

Thanks,

Alex

You either want to have separate gear, or clean in between tanks with a solution of 1 part bleach to 20 parts water. Rinse with tap water afterwards, and preferably let it dry.

You want to keep a quar tank completely separate from any others. This is not only to keep something nasty from being transfered to your existing stock, but to keep new fish, who may be stressed, from being exposed to something your existing stock are living quite fine being exposed to.

so is it the same for fish that maybe be ok but quarentined just incase as far as filters and what not?

With porous things such as filter sponges or media I'll just rinse them well with tap water and let them dry out. My tap water has enough chlorine to clean these up.
