One of my male guppys was looking a bit down yesterday (i've had a few deaths with a wasting disease on my rummy nose tetras, I have been using metheleyn(sp?) blue for 2 weeks now as I believe it maybe some sort of parasite. I felt prevention would be better than a cure) so I put him in a net so he didn't get picked on, woke up this morning and his tail was patchy, when i got home from work his tail has all but gone. I can't find anything net wise about this, could someone enlighten me and perhaps suggest a curse of action?

Many Thanks

Methalyn blue palys havoc on the bactirial filtration system, so keep a VERY sharp eye on the water stats. I would also stop using the meth blue. I would consider switching to Protozin, as it has a number of active ingredients, that cover paracites, flukes, some bactiria and also fungus. Loosing the tail that fast would have to be either a fungeral or bactirial infoction. Protozin treats for both, as well as the paracites you think you have ATM.
Before treating with Protozin, I would do a 50% waterchage, and run carbon in the filter for about 12 hours to remove the meth blue. If the meth blue is in small quantities, it should be relatively safe to switch to the new med without waiting the recomended 48 hours. Waiting that long will almost cirtainly kill your guppy. Failing that API melafix is worth a try, and can be mixed with most other meds safely.
