Within the past 10 days, three of my female platies has delivered a total of 103 fry!! :hyper: :D

It all started on Christmas morning, when my red wag platy gave birth to 42 fry. Then on New Year's eve, my sunburst crescent platy had 28 fry. This morning, my sunburst platy delivered 33 fry! This is incredible!

I'm so proud of my mommy platies!

Wow that's alot of babies, keep an eye on water quality with that many, congrats by the way.

Do you keep that many babies in their own tank? And if you do, what size? I ask because I've got about 75 swordtail fry myself and 3 more ladies about to drop any day now.

Congrats!

I have a 50 gallon growout tank for fry.
Right now it's full of my girlfirend's guppies but she plans on getting her own large tank as my 50 gallon will house betta fry

The end of September 2004 I had a single platy female give birth to about 75 fry in one day. I say about because they wouldn't sit still long enough to be counted. For the 1st week I kept them in a 2.5gal (10L) tank before moving them to a 10gal (40L). Now I need to move them to a bigger tank again. The reason for the 2.5 Gal tank is that I have found that the females tend to go nuts if you stick them into one of those tiny net breeders that you get at the pet store, and that they are much more calm in a 2.5Gal tank than a net breeder.
