Hi all,

I haven't kept fish for well over 10 years now and i'm about to start again (very exciting :hyper: ). I've got a 20g tank and I'm going to go with a sand substrate, some bogwood, maybe some (fake) plants, somecaves either using slate or pots. I was wondering how thick the sand should be, I read it's dangerous to have too thick a layer because of anerobic conditions?

As for stocking I was thinking of 4-6 C.sterbai, a pair of rams or apistos (not sure which apistos yet as they are all so lovely) and some dither type fish (either neons, cardinals, or would platties be ok as my friend is overrun with them and said I could have a few). Does this seem feasable?

Sorry for all the questions, it's nice to have reassurance and/or feedback from people with experience :D

maybe try with an inch of substrate this maybe enuff to secure real and fake plants - and anchor down ???

more sand more anearobic condition less sand easier to maintain, aeration

hth?

Thanks :D , that really helped. I feel reassured about my fishie choices, it's really hard to decide isn't it  . I've been researching for ages, but it's nice to get back up from real people.

I'll go with one inch of sand then, cheers Rob.

Rams are so gorgeous, i'm hoping to get them from a fish auction as the ones i've seem in my lps aren't the best. It's so exciting! :hyper:
