initail disclaimer: there is nothing wrong with homosexaulity and i don't intend to cause offence by saying this, ok?

BUT

why do the lass guppies just spend all their time independently swimming about whilst the two fellows spend all their time together (within 1" of each other)

have i managed to get the only two homosexual guppies in existence or is this a common thing? (the proximity of the males not the preference of the fish)

again no offence is intended, just curious about my fish!

It may be aggression, not love. Sometimes they will follow each other around, and just generally be pests. The females don't do this because they don't have any aggression towards each other.

How many males and females do you have?

i did have 2 males and 3 females but i've just come in from a day out and one of the females seems to have caught herself in the filter and passed away :(

so tomorrow (as i've got a trial shift in my LFS) i'm going to get 2 females to go with the remaining two i think.

hmm also now i've come back they are being civil and alot less "clingy".

suggestions please

Suggestions on what?

I think adding the 2 more females will be good, that will be 2 per male which is in the right ratio on the lower end. 1 or 2 more might be best if you continue to see aggression, but just try with these first. Make sure they are all getting enough food, and they have hiding places too. :)

suggestions on whether i should return a male or add 2 more females, sadly i didn't actually type that! it's been a long day

i'll see what the little blighters are like tomorrow

That's your choice. Do you think your tank could handle more fish? How many fish do you have now, and what size tank?

i chose to add two more females. it's an 8 gallon. so i have 2 males and 4 females.

Okay, I definitely wouldn't go past that many. I didn't realize your tank was that size. It should be fine, as long as you keep up on the water changes and have a place for fry. :)

regular water changes are happening and i have no plans to get anymore

cheers for your help
