I don't bite, all that often...
Hi,
I bought 4 new discus about a week ago today (bought on 13/07/08 and 10/07/08 respecively, two each day) and added them directly to my established tank without quarrentening, and I am regretting it already
Within two days they were showing bad signs, gill and fin clamping and flicking (when the residents already in there alowed them out of the plants....). They also lost colour, darkening off. I upped the temperature to 34c and added Waterlife Sterazin to treat the ailing fish, beliving it was flukes that I am dealing with. Now, 5 days into the treatment, they don't appear much better, they have their colour back but still have the other symptoms. They are eating however, which is reasuring...
I noticed after work today (6:30 pm ish) some very small white spots, shugar grain size, similar to ICH, but different. They are hairy
I suspect I also have a fungral issue, infecting the sites of the old flukes that have dropped off..... I'm going to see what they are like tomorrow morning, to see if they grow. Most fungral infections I've delt with have grown to the size of 5p pices within 24 hours, so if it's bacterial, so I think should be able to see a difference.
The question I have is, what treatments can I use for fungus with Sterazin in? Would Salt be the only option? Obviously turning down the temperature a little will slow it down, but but won't cure it...
What else could I be dealing with? What could I expect to see the advancing stages to look like with the other posibilities in the morning?
The thing that is worrying my is that these spots are in the gills
I ask myself if I'm treating for the correct thing, or whether the flukes I suspect aren't the culprets...
Help
Thanks

I have some eSHa 2000 waiting in the wings if it is bacterial, as I was going to use it to prevent the side effects of flukes anyway... Primafix can be obtained at work tomorrow if the spots re-appear, so will keep an eye out for them
