Only went in for some plants, ended up buying fish - oh well! Black widows tetras, harlequins, couple of swordtails and a pair of dwarf cichlids. The harlequins are nutters!

Just make sure that the imminent nitrite and ammonia spikes don't hurt the fish too much.

General info:
Harlequins and widows should be kept in shoals. The rasboras might not need many other similar fish, but the widows are very skittish.
Make sure you can handle the new fry if your swordtails are of two genders.

How big is your tank? How many and what types of fish do you have in all?

Yep, I got 8 harlequins, and they're already shoaling with the gold barbs. I bought 5 black widows, they are a little more skittish but are swimming about in the open as well as keeping out the way in the plants. I bought some tall plants, so they have vegetation and rocks/wood at all levels in the tank. I'm putting them in a new tank tomorrow (today?) that's been set up a week with gravel and filter media from the existing tank, so it should be okay, but I will check levels daily for a couple of weeks, and do twice weekly water changes for a while. I got given an old chipped 4 foot tank, so I'm gonna scrub it out and prepare it for a fry/growing on tank for the livebearers. I do hope they all settle in okay!
