i went to the local fish store yesterday and decided on looking for a "school" of fish. I decided on three banggai cardinal fish. (not sure if three is considered a school) my wife actually has taken alittle interest in the tank now with these guys..she calls them.. the alien fish.

anybody every kept any of these or heard anything about them

Whoa....be careful...three fish of the same sex...or even not....is a recipe for trouble. Many fish do not tolerate others of their same species in constrained space. They can become extremely territorial and harass some to death. I've looked into Banggai's for my 24G Nano reef. Almost bought one..but...I've heard that they don't add much excitement except for their unusual looks. Hence..went with a sixline wrasse (actually, Navarre's recommendation and a darn good one).

Ocellaris can be paired if done very small or very young or if one is large, the other is small (it can change sexes). Use caution when buying fish in pairs from the same species. Check with Navarre if he has any experience with putting schools together. Good luck. SH

Nice addition. Aparrantly they're mouth brooders so look out for signs of breeding in the future!

ya i am experiencing that now. my question now is the one that is getting picked on (he is in my refugium right now) the one that i should take back to the store? or do I remove the aggressive one and keep the two nice ones? the aggressive one only picks on one of the two other fish. I thought I picked them out right (maybe the lfs scooped the wrong one) but I thought I had two females and 1 male... guess I got two males instead and only one female. so who do you keep and who goes???
