Hi all, recently bought a piece of drift wood from LFS.

About a week ago i bought it and boiled it for an hour or so, and it has been getting soaked in a bucket wit hthe water being changed once or twice a day now. I was changing it 4-5 times a day but getting close to exams so getting busy studying. Its still keeps going a light brown sorta colour, kinda like tea.

Anyway, question is, is it normal for it to take this long to stop leaching tannins??

Last piece of drift wood i put into the other tank didnt take more than a couple of days.

Wanting to get this into the tank as wnat to get plants attatched to it, give the tank a nicer look

Ive had wood that still leached heavily after 4 weeks of soaking, wood never stopps leaching it just becomes less noticable over a long period of time. You could put into the tank as it is and maybe add some carbon to the filter every so often to remove tannins but the fish will actually benefit from it and most actually like it, people just dont lol.

Hehe yeah thought id end up doing that. But i personally wouldnt really like the colour of it, it looks very wierd in the bucket alone Guess ill try to find another nice piece thats already been in a tank for a long time
