I have a peice of mopani wood in my tank i started to do a fishless cycle yesterday and added the ammonia i was taking a look in the tank tonight and noticed on part of the wood seemed to be some sort of white whispy mold. Is this normal will it go away or be harmful to fish when i put them in and really what is it????

Just take it out of the tank and scrub in hot salty water, and let the wood dry out for a day or two, quite common to get this on it when first added to the tank.

Sorry forgot rinse it well after you have scrubed it, could even leave it in salty water over night.

so i do need to take it out and scrub it then when its dry put it back in do i have to take it out would it not cure being left in there

I would definately take it out and scrub it off, no worth the risk.
