I bought and fitted a moonlight in my new 48" aquarium at the weekend, I think it looks fantastic

anyone else here running a moonlight?

I used to have the strips of blue LEDs but one burnt out and left burn marks on the hood so decided to remove. They were good for the price and considering they were in use on a timer every night for a year and a bit. I was going to replace them but keep spending money onother stuff

I had them but they got on my nerves cos i never fitted them properly, they look great though

Yes, I love it! I have some for my 140g with the option of moonlight or just white LED. I use the white light in the morning when I feed my fish as it's dim and my Glass Catfish come out. The moonlight is just awesome to see how the fish behave at night. I've seen some very neat behaviour from my Glass cats and corydoras! The darn lighting was expensive but totally worth it :good:

I have a stupid question: If your tank has some type of lighting 24 hours a day, when do your fish sleep?

i paid about £15 on eBay, and it has a switch on it that allows me to dim or brighten the lights. so its nice. ive got one White set right now running as the main light on a 20g tank, works fine.

I haven't but it's on my list. Not to be on all the time; only to be on for about an hour after the main lights go off, and simply for my viewing pleasure! It sheds a different light (no pun intended, honest!) on the fishes behaviour, and I'm nosey!

How do the extra strip lights work? Are they powered seperately? My tank has the lights in the hood so just wondering how it would work.

I'm still on fishless cycle...my moonlight will only be used for a few hours in the evening..then total darkness overnight and through until the main light comes on on the timer

Found these

but they're blue ....

Is white or blue best ? Would white give a more natural effect ?

Also they don't have a dimmer which sounds useful. I will keep looking.

Brought mine from ebay, fitted last week.
