Moonlight Gouamai Floating Help!

please help my moonlight gouamai who is 3years old suddenly started swimming upside down at the top of the tank he is the right way up now but is gasping at the top and not looking normal at all ive tried the peas but he seams more intrested in poking his mouth ubove the water and gasping air than eating peas please help ive had him the longest and would hate to loose him every1 else in there is fine as
he swimming vertical now please help
sorry i 4got to add vitals ive had tank three years now

nitrate=40
ph=7
its a 40 gallon tank with 2xmoonlight gouamais 2xbaby discus 5 neon tetra 6 guppys 2 coolie loaches 3 killie fish and 4 black tetras cant remember their names
i usually do 30% water changes weekly but heve been doing twice daily since big guy started to swim vertical
 
Hiya, sorry to say it but it doesnt sounds too good.
Once a fish is that far gone I dont know how to bring it back. :no:
Maybe Wilder has some good ideas...
 
Do a 50% water change to bring down the nitrates to a more acceptable but still high level, if you can see if there is anything stuck in his mouth, is there a bulgeing where his stomach is?
 
:rip: thanks 4 ur advice i done huge water change and he looked much beta then the next morning sadley he was dead :( very sad but thank u i didnt think there was much hope but u neva kno
