I was looking at ebay and i found moon lights. I have freshwater tanks can you put moon lights on a freshwater tank? If not why? Ive read that they are supposto simulate the light of the moon so could i leave them on all night with out any problems?

Yep, you can use them on freshwater tanks.. i dont think there would be a problem if you left them on all night either, but you might need to check..

if you do a seach on moonlights there are plenty of threads for you to see peoples comments on the different sets that are available.. some of which are condensation proof and soom that are submersible..

Razor-opto(ebay) has just put up some cold cathode sets
he has sealed the tubes and the invertor from damp
and it comes with a 1000ma transformer.
IMHO it is by far the best way to go.
I have just ordered some.

preffered spotlights to the tubes.

they do look ace tho and i leave them on all night.

there dimmable too by turning down the power on the plug.

you can get the cables made longer than the standard 1.2m too as i have a 5ft tank so i needed 2m cables.

I've had an 8 LED moonlight array over my 46G for almost a year. It's beautiful and illuminates the room at night...not only that, but, you can watch what's going on with your nocturnals. It was an easy DIY using 8 Blue 4000MCD. Whadday think? SH

Steelhealr, do you have a link to see how you made that moonlight for your tank? I dont remember whether or not it was already posted in DIY section :/

The DIY is not difficult..it just takes time and patience and soldering. There is a huge thread on this if you search it out....I'll see if I can find the link. SH

I've got LED's and cathode tubes on mine and the tubes are so much better!!!
