Firstly hello..first post ..wont be the last im sure!
Just wondering if any one has experience of these with tropical fish and any recomendations ie there are some on ebay from £10 to £60 to fit my 6 foot tank...any suggestions?

Build your own :D there is a fantastic thread in DIY detailing how to build moonlighting from cold cathode tubes, check the pinned topics.

hi there and welcome to the forum.

i have a set of moonlights bought from a smith_rc a member on here.

here is a link to his moonlights link

and here's them in my tank (same as in my sig)

tank is a Juwel Rio 180. moonlights are 2 x 12 inch cold cathode tubes on a dimmer. those pics are with the light on the lowest setting so will be plenty for your tank. as they are cold cathode they done grow algae like actnitic (sp) tubes either. best option in my opinion.

The only problem is my lights arent sealed units...

nor are mine, i've drilled holes in the reflectors and strapped them to the underside (with t8 tubes still in place), i have no condensation cover or anything and all's fine.

my tank is exactly the same as yours, same lights etc (but i have 4 tubes rather than the original 2)

edit: sorry just read your post again no idea why i thought you had the same tank as me, getting confused with another post... still should work fine for you.

here's my tank with the top off, the moonlights are fitted under the rear reflector
