Just doing more research on this dosing thing. It seems to me that so many people dump things into their tanks without knowing anything about it. So, was scratching my head on molyd...uh..molyb....DOH...muh-LYB-duh-'num. This post is easy since there is not much to say on it.

Notes:
-required in plants for survival
-functions in nitrogen fixation/denitrification in bacteria
-molybdate can form complexes with phosphate
-can encourage microalgae growth
-a depletion in a marine aquarium has never been seen/reported to date
-has not been established whether supplementation is beneficial in marine aquariums

Apparently, supplementation outside of regular water changes is not necessary. In fact. almost nothing needs to be added to one's tank (except calcium) outside of regular water changes. So...go figure why there are shelves filled with Strontium/Molybdenum mixtures.
Feel free to post your thoughts or input.

The only reason I can think of is people who run 'natural' systems like myself. I have had my reef tank running for about a year and have only done two water changes and my water parameters are pretty spot-on. The only addatives I used on a regular basis are calcium and a small amount of iodine evey now and then.

However, I am very reluctant to add things without researching and totally agree that with regular water changes there is no real need.

most of the stuff is more likely coloured crap just so the companies can cover ' that last aditive that crashed peoples aquariums'. my opinion ususaly over priced, and well just not usefull (however it should be noted other stuff is essential such as calc ect.)
