So I got a male for my two Molly's thinking they would mate. But that is not the case the male hates them he won't get near them! The females keep trying to mate but he does not wont to why is this? He loves my pregnant swordtail why is this? I have never seen a fish do this thanks for the help in advance

Huh! That is really strange. My only thing is are you certain it's 100% a molly??? Other than that I have no idea why the fish would be acting that way, sorry.  Also depending on how far along your swordtail is he could just be interested in eating the new fry.

Is it a lyretail molly?

The reason I ask is that I've had several "male" lytretail mollies, that looked male in the shop, but when they relaxed at home, the anal fins fanned out, and were clearly female. I'm wondering if the same thing has happened here.

How long have you had the male Molly in with the females?

My Molly loved my Swordtails, i suppose this must be because they are both livebearers, i have heard of cases of interbreeding between the 2 species.

WIth respect, mollies and guppies both belong to the "Poecilia" genus, and there are some cases of interbreeding. However, Swordtails are in the "Xiphophorus" genus, and are not closely enough related to "Poecilia" genus to interbreed.

You may well have heard of cases of Swordtails and Platies interbreeding, and it is likely that shop-bought swordtails and platies are hybridised, not pure, anyway.

Often male livebearers go for the more "fertile"-looking females.  I've had my male guppies favor the pregnant females best.  And your male molly probably doesn't care a ton about if the female is a molly or another livebearer.

Ok thanks for all the help it is still the seam today I'll let you know if anything changes and yes I have looked at it good and it still appears to be male and I've had it for 2 days. I have noticed that his gells look hurt. Maybe from the tank mates at the store?
Oh ya it's a orange Molly the guy at the pet store told me that is was the only male Molly in the store. They are low on fish because something happened at the place that they get the fish from and can't get a shipment for a long time.
