Tragically Tatami lost her battle with the fungus. She was fine in the morning when I fed her, but under 30 min later she was dead. The other fish in the tank have been taken out and put in a clean tank while the larger tank is being cleaned and what not.

There is a thought that the other molly, Trinity, may also not live. She has been lathargic and lies on the bottom of the tank.

Odd how all the mollies aquired from Petco have died where as the ones from PetsMart are all healthy and swimming around.

Edit: Tatami at her time of death still had the cotton-growth on her and some of her scales around the growth were sticking almost up at a 45-50 degree angle. Was this a sign of something other than the cotton fungus?

 I'm SO sorry to hear about Tatami! :byebye: But I hope your other fish are okay, and I really hope Trinity makes it! :/ so most of your fish from petco are either sick or die? But the ones from petsmart are okay? Huh, I guess I'm going to stop getting my fish from petco then! :oh: :rip:

I got home from an unsuccessful swimming trip (pool closed for a meet) and here is the update on the fish: No-Name looks all right. He is swimming around full of energy but Trinity is still a little lathargic.

I am worried about Trinity. She is still just laying around. I am not too sure if she is just sleeping or if she is sick. In the big tank she was still and would drift a little along the bottom with the water current. No-Name did this too until I put him in the little tank. When I lef thtey were both still and now No-Name is fistey and swimming around. I do hope that Trinity is just tired.

Because Trinity, Tatami, No-Name, and Kale are my sister's fish, they have been getting better treatment then my own. I bought special meds for them (Tatami mostly), and I clean their tank reguarly. I even have Trinity'd Fry in my room in my tank so that I can keep a closer eye on them and make sure they are all ok. I am not sure why her fish keep dying though. The pH is fine, the ammonia is in check, the salt is non-iodine and in the right amounts... My only conclusion is that they had to have come with problems.

Also because they are my sister's fish and I was responcible for them, I have told my sister that I would buy her a new fish. I am thinking she will want another black lyretail, but then again who knows. I would take Tatami back and exchange her, but I don't have the recipt and I am tired of dealing with sick fish. I'm going to take her to PetsMart to get a healthy fish.

I have four fish surviving the Petco purchases (Trinity and Amalthea [origional purchases that were bought with Kale, Molly II, and Tatami] and No-Name and Twilight [exchanges for Molly and Kale aquired yesterday].) :)

When I bought them from Petco, Amalthea and Tatami had anchor worms that I was able to remove and treat the wounds for. Amalthea is doing just fine and may be pregnant (along with Twilight), but you know the fate of Tatami from the fungus and possible other problems.

My PetsMart fish (Fortuna and Lir) are happy as clams. They are gettng along with their tank mates, swimming aorund with the other fish (though Lir tends to be on his own alot. He is a sword tail and the others in the tank are female mollies. I know they wont breed, but I still love how pretty he is.) Amaltha and Fortuna are great buddies. They are always together and hardly ever away from one another.:fish: :fish:

To be fair, I am not telling people to stop shopping at Petco. Just because the one here by my house has sick fish (well, the one by my dorm in Corvallis did too [black moors covered in ick]) does not mean that all of them will have bad fish. If you goto a Petco and get fish there and htey are healthy then that is fine. My fish Mitshu, Shinju, Sakura, and Ningyo were all Petco purchases and have been with me from 2 months (Sakura) to a year (Mitshu, Shinju... Ningyo has been mine for about 6 months or less). I myself still shop at Petco for supplies and fish food and medication, but I just prefer to buy my fish at PetsMart. :)

Edit: I placed Trinity and No-Name back into the larger, filtering tank to see how they would do. I am heading out for a few hours and will post and update when I return.

Edit 2: When I put them in their larger tank, Trinity perked up and went swimming around, but she quickly settled back down.

Update: Trinity appears to be doing fine. She is still a little lathargic, but she does not let the water push her around in the slightest anymore. No-Name is right beside her and though he is fiesty and loves to swim, he wont leave her size for too long. Is it fish love?
