Okay, so I read on the 'Net that mollies and platies are compatible tankmates. Yesterday, I went out and found a stunning platie: seeing as the others were all orange and he was slate-blue with a white belly, I couldn't resist!

However, when I put him in the tank, my molly constantly attacked him. I don't know if he's hurting him, since I can't see any damaged scales, torn fins, etc., but the molly is kind of... Well, it looks like he's sucking on the platie. Is this just a territorial issue? Will it get better? I don't want these two to end up sucking each other's eyes of or something. If you have any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it!

:D hi
could you tell us the size of the tank and if theres any other fish with them.

Yes. The tank is 10 gal, and I have a few other fish with them... One goldfish (which, unless I get a bigger tank, I'll be giving to my friend Evan), a TINY pleco, and two phantom tetras.

Hi, can you tell us if the tank is heated? is it just the one molly with the one platy?
and do you know what kind of pleco you have?

:*) Sorry for not including this info in the first post...

Yes, I only have one molly and one platie. The tank isn't heated (it's pretty warm without a heater), and I'm pretty sure my pleco is a siamese algae eater. He's about one inch long and I'm pretty sure he's stopped growing by now.

EDIT -- Nevermind, they're not nipping at each other as much as before, but they do nip on occasion.
