Im interested in pics or links to some rare colored mollies. i.e. ive only seen one fully orange with black spots, and i have him in my tank. do these (not swordtails) get to be red? or maybe even blue in color? reason im asking is that my female black molly has this small pattern of BLUE spots on here head. they are quite bright, especially when it hits the light the right way.

Mollies don't come in red, so no. I can't say I have ever seen a blue Molly, however it is quite normal for the blacks to have some bluish/greenish patches. That may be what happened with your's. :)

I'm not big on Molly coloring, so maybe a more Molly-oriented person can tell you some of the rare colors. I do know I hardly ever seen Gold Liberty Mollies though. :)

Hi there
I think i might have an amazon molly.I was looking at the pictures in the livebearing sections that pinned at the top and my male looks exactly like that but can get pictures because he wont stay still :grr:

Sorry to burst your bubble...but it's probably a Green Sailfin. Amazon Molly Males are 1 in 10,000 chances, and most likely anyone in their right mind who went to the Amazon and picked up an Amazon Molly male would not go sell it. Green Sailfins look VERY similar. :)

I have to disagree about there being no red mollies. Since I have mollies that are called "Red Dalmation Mollies" They are not red but darker orange (Males) spotted.
These are females and are of course more plain then the male

Here was my male before he died. He was like tri colored black orange and silver spotted with green irredesence.
This is not a very good photo I am afraid. But it give you an idea.

Very pretty. But they aren't red...they are orange. :) I am talking red like this:

Not of course that bright, but around that color.

I know they ar not the color of red, but they are named red at all the LFS. I have never seen any mollies of the color that you are showing the swordtail in.

I know, but people will call them whatever name occurs to them. I have seen sooo many different common names for the same color it's ridiculous! I would say those Mollies are definitely orange, whether they are called red or not. :)

My point exactly. No red Mollies.
