I have a female lyretail molly.

She gave birth about 7 weeks ago and has started to get fat again - I'm not sure if shes pregnant or just putting on weight.

I introduced a swordtail on Saturday and since then her behaviour has changed. She was very nervous when he was introduced and hid in the hornwort for several hours. Since then she spends a lot of time at the surface & not moving very much.

Is that normal pregnant behaviour or could it be that the swordtail is spooking her ?

Is she gasping or just resting at the top of the tank, she not well, or due to give birth again, they hide and rest, and get very moody and sometimes stressed, can you issolate her.

I would say shes breathing fast - being a newbie I dont know if thats gasping or not.

I have a fry isolation net but thats very small - I dont think I should isolate her in that should I ?

Thanks, Digsy

No it will stress her more in the net, well to be honest she about to give birth or she ill, hard o say which, so good luck, you could try posting in the livebearer section plenty of experience over there.
