Hi, just joined, hope I'm in the right place! Got 2 dalmation mollies 2 weeks ago, and they seem fine, but today I read about healthy mollies dying due to low ph. The ph in the tank is 6.5 should I leave it or try to raise it slowly? The tank at the petshop where we bought them had no salt in the water. Should we add some now? The amonia and nitrites are starting to rise a bit today, but we're keeping our eye on this, water testing daily, 25%water change today and no food (poor hungry fish)
If anyone can give me some "molly" advice I'd be really grateful. We've had them a short time but have grown really fond of them, I'd hate to do them wrong. Many thanks.

6.5 isn't that low, and it can do more harm then good to try to fiddle with the p.H. I'd leave it. And yes, you could put some salt in, as long as all your fish are tolerant of it. Though if they were brought up in truly fresh water, they should be okay with no salt.

Why aren't you feeding your fish though? -_-

I agree don't mess with ph more trouble then it's worth, as you will have water changes to worry about.

Should fish not eat less while we are getting the nitrite and amonia back to 0? They were fed this morning so they're not relly that hungry!!

Not much while you are cycling the tank.
