3 dyas ago my molly had babies the fry were seperated from the breeding net into their own tank lastnight i caught my 3 year old messing with the tank and this morning I woke up to a bunch of sick and dieing fry 3 have died so far and I'm not sure if it was before or after they died that their insides burst out of their belly and help or suggestions would be very much apreciated I have already changed the water with cycled water and added an air stone along with stress coat and aquarium salt the temp of the tank is 82 F

Can you tell me what your son did, as it will help, did he over feed them, or put something in the tank.

I heard that mollies cant survive high heat like that. even though one of my teachers rooms got over a hundred degrees because of a school heating issue and the dalmation mollie I gave was the only one to survive.

I'm not sure what he did I was in the kitchen making dinner and when I came in he had water all over his hands and was standing over the tank I lowered the heat to 74 but even after doing the water changes and adding the airstone 12 of them died and some are still looking very sick

Another water change, are they gasping or laboured breathing.

I would take a fourth of the water out and put them in there and dump the rest the tank out, then heat up the new water and mix them together so there is only a little of whatever was in there.

From what you said, it sounds like something got into the tank when your son was playing with it. The temperature is in an acceptable range, so i would not worry. I highly doubt the temp of 82 caused the fish to die.

Keep doing regular water changes (25% daily), and also add some carbon into the filter, as that will help to remove any chemicals that may have gotten into the tank.

Also, what are your water stats? Anytime fish start dying you should check them, just as a precaution.

all the tank lvls are within normal range now and the baby fry have perked up I lost about 18 of them and my son told me finally what he had done I had been cleaning earlier in the day and I had sat the carpet powder on the computer desk he thought it was fish food threw a hand ful of carpet powder in my fry tank the babies that are left are doing well and thank you for all of your help
