hello i have 3 pergo molly 1 big black molly, and 2 small red dalmation molly. im Q. is i have a small 5 gallon and another 2 gallon. i know the black molly will have big fry and can i keep the fry in my tank without any of them being eattin? for the small molly i plan on putting them in the 5 gallon and 2 gallon but i want to have them sharethe same fliter how can i do that?

thanks.

I don't get the share the same filter comment...

As for the fry not being eaten, that is not true. If the fry fits (in your mouth) eat it. :p

Also, since mollies can easily have upwards of 50 fry per female, if you are able to save a large percentage of the fry, the 5 and 2 gallon tanks will very quickly become far too small for the fry. :/

well i wanted the two tanks to share a fliter and to be conceted. i can use a 15 gallon toy bin. left over from my son. the molly the is prego is about 4in long

Sterilite containers from Walmart could also work, if you don't mind the less-than-appealing look.

As for connecting 'em, if they are connected merely by means of a filter, I would think a sponge filter in both tank running from the same pump would work.

If your intention was to make it so the water runs betweent he tanks, that is not something I can help you out with. :p If you need help with that, the DIY forum would be the place to start. ;)

im not picky about the look as long as they have a home im goning to try the air stones. so my mool,y fry will be eattin in my tank if i leave them in?

Not necessarily all of them.

If you want to raise the survival rate, get a munch of plants and java moss.

ok thnks will lots of fake plants work im not a fan of real plants.

Fake plants should work. Though if you could find java moss and ferns, they do well with low light (even incandescents). Just make sure any plants you get are bushy so the parents can't get at the fry.

The mom, dad, aunt, uncle, older siblings, etc. will all try to eat the fry. Even if the mom is by herself in a huge tank, if she comes across her fry and it's small enough to eat, she'll try to eat it.

i was at my LFS today buyins swordtail, molly, and a angel fish. well the guy there was chasing the swordtail around the tank and grab 3 molly fry  when i got home i put them in a little 1 gallon i have to set up my 5 gallon and cycle it. the fry are small but one is about 1in long. my Q. is i never have kept molly fry and 3 of my black molly are pergo. what do i feed the fry?
