Molly Fry -colours

Ibought a green lyretail sailfin molly on Friday and --bingo--she had about 30+ fry last night
The fry however are a variety of green,orange and a very pale orange
Id have thought they would all have been green like her.
I know mollies can store sperm for a few months so I assume that she has mated with a few different males and the results will be a mixture of lyretails and whatever.
Am I right in thinkins this?
ps I promise Never to complain about the number of fry posts again as this is the first lot Ive managed to save and Im like a new dad )

She probably just mated with one male, an orange one. I don't believe they can mix sperm from a few different males...but maybe it's possible. You'll have to see how they grow up, and cross your fingers she was in with Sailfins!

Don't worry about that, no one is going to hold that against you! Unless you do something mean to me....then it might come back.

They store the males sperm in many scenarios so it could be the female was storing multiple male's sperm and could hence have multiple father's children in one batch. keep the forum updated as I will at least be very interested in seeing if they turn out to be sifferent mixes!

There were about 30 fry and Id say 20 were green.7 pale orange and 2 bright orange.Unfortunately the bright orange ones seem to have popped their clogs although most of the rest are going strong
It will certainly be interesting to see how they turn out and I will keep you posted.

Annastasia-Im in checking them first thing in the morning and the minute I come in from work I will probably end up buying one of those"baby on board" stickers for the tank

From black & white dalmation mollies I have 1 pure white, 1 dalmation & 1 silver, orange & black, she is so pretty.
