My male molly yesterday and today has been occasionally what i would call coughing - he's splashing about a bit in a strange way, for a few seconds then it stops. looks like coughing! stats arent too bad, not perfect but not awful, and there is fin rot treatment in the water for a cory.

any ideas?

What's the substrate? I had a fish swallow a piece of gravel once and it stuck. The fish did die because I couldn't get it out. That was inexperience at that time and won't put certain fish in gravel tanks.
Get your water params perfect. Even slight imperfections can stress fish and cause illness.

Its gravel in that tank, at the moment. Soon to be sand. I have noticed he coughs a bit after eating food sometimes....maybe he's just a pig

Im getting the stats down to normal as quick as poss, believe me ;)

ETA ammonia and nitrite 0, nitrate 2.5 - much better :D
