I have 2 female mollies and 2 male mollies all of different colours and three different types. will they mate or do they only mate with exactly their own kind?

Yes they will breed, I would advise getting two more females so that the females don't get botherd all the time. They don't care about colour their randy buggers

the more females the more fry lol
but yes i would advise you to get a few more females because the males harrass the females and they could die
its the same with all livebearers

One of my black molly's had this about 2 weeks ago and i lost her, there was nothing i could do but put her on her own and see if she made it.
