2 weeks ago my molly had about 20 babies, 1 deformed (but still alive)

How big should i let them get before releasing them back into the tank

until they big enuf they cant be eaten ?

other fish in the tank are
2 gouramis
1 silver shark
1 redtail shark
2 harliquins
5 red eye tetras
1 diamond tetra
1 clown loach

i have a 4ft x 2.2ft tank (dont know gallons)

And is it safe to clean my tank ?
its not going to affect them to clean and take a couple of buckets of water out and put clean in ?

TIA :)

Their be fine from about half an inch in size, this should take 3-4 weeks.

Yes it's fine to do a water a 30% water change as long as the water your adding is dechlorinated and the same temp as the tank.
I've done upto 50% before but it's not advised that much, it's better to do 2 30% in 2 days then 1 50% change.

Thanks i usually do a 25% water change most of the time but i have noticed the water level has dropped naturally, when i went into the the fish shop he told me it was best not to clean or do a water change as it could affect mum and babies, but it was getting a little icky in there so i thought i would ask 1st!

i had a plastic hatchery but noticed it was getting a little crammed in there so i brought a net one which is a little more room for them all, mum was taken out as soon as babies were born, but i did notice one of the harlequins had jumped in the hatchery with her while she was giving birth, no harm they are pretty small i think he was just curious!

didnt know who daddy was as about a week b4 mummy had babies one of my mollies had died so had to wait till born to see colours to see who daddy was, so now know black one was daddy, most babies are mainly white, prolly about 3 black and maybe 2-3 dalmatians (one that died was bright orange) all the fish are curious and come have a look, mum and dad hang around alot but that harlequin is the most curious and loves sliding between the net hatchery and the glass, the gouramis always hang underneath

i did think mr black was a girl not long after mummy had her babies he was fat as, i did chuck him in the spare hatcher just incase, but realised after a couple of days hes just a PIG..lol
