I've recently lost 2 mothers about 2 weeks after the fry were born. Both my platy and mollie after the fry were born, stopped eating and eventually died. I did not move them and tried to keep the tanks as stress-free as possible. Did water changes, the fry are doing well and I haven't lost any, I just don't know about the mothers.

Evene though you did the best you can for your mother fish, it proberly was still stress, I only ever had one mother fish suvive more than 2 weeks after birth, but even then she only last about 6 weeks. ( I still have her Daurter.)

I just had one molly birth yesterday, she all on her own, has been for 3 weeks, and will not be moved back for another 4-5 days.

Hopefuly this time I won't loss her as she looking very good at the moment. (touch wood)

I'm sorry to hear about your fish. I hope she makes it :)
I guess, it was stress, I don't know....Kinda makes me not want to purchase them when they are pregnant. It's sad to loose them
