hey - I had a molly in my tank and it was super shy. Then I added a new one to keep it company and now it's nipping at ALL my fishes' fins. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Generally, You need to group the fishes, because some fish do quarrel with each others.

The reason might depend on the sexes of the two mollies. If they are both females, the might need a man to help keep them "occupied" and in-line. I had a female molly that was just mean to all the other fish, until I got her a boyfriend.

yeah, what sex are your two mollies? if the mean one is a male, could be you need to get a few more females to occupy him (should have a two female for every one male ratio). if its female, is it prego? my females tend to get nippy and territorial the week or so before theyre ready to give birth (fishy pms maybe???).

In my experience, Mollies seem to be quite viscious, my silver went ape and killed two of the others and started nipping fins, I have her spereated at the moment with her babies (who she seems not to bother) so like suggested, if you got a few, perhaps this will eaase the problem..?

If not, try taking it back to your lfs, they should take it and then you could replace it with some more placid fish...?

It's funny how fish can vary...when my molly was pregos, she was so placid and sweet...then she had the babies, and she went on a rampage! I guess you just have to find out what works for your individual fish. :)
