I have two mollie's 1m and 1f the female is twice the size of the male  and she is now pregnant any info. on mollie breeding and fry care and all that stuff would help.

1) How long will she be pregnant?
2) How many fry will she lay(she is about full size)?
3) Do you find it odd that i bought them at the same time and they were the same size and now one is twice the size?

This just dawned on me i am mostlikely inbreeding crap) gonna have to fix that one.

As I understand it, gestation period is around 3-4 weeks. So it depends if she was pregnant when you got her or not as to when the first batch will be born.

My fully grown mollies pump out between 20 and 40 fry. However, depending on where they are when they are giving birth......their fellow fish (and they themselves) don't mind having a little snack on the "free" live food that is around...  .......so it is difficult to tell.

When I wanted to keep as many as possible..........I got a floating breeding trap.......but didn't put the pregnant mother in there........just watched carefully and netted the fry as they were born and swam away.........it is said that heavily pregnant mollies may abort if moved/stressed too close to their "due date".

Oh.........and you may want another couple of females as the males are a little rampant and could well bother the female incessantly......

Good luck.......

I am returnign a newt to my lfs and am getting store credit and plan on getting a mollie and one or two albino cory i have one and they like to be in groups.

they are both still really little so i hope they aren't pregnant. They don't appear to be but they still could be i sure hope not yet anyway.
